I am Aleksander Wysocki, also known as "Sandro," a cinematographer of Polish-Georgian descent. My journey began in Tbilisi, Georgia, where I spent part of my childhood before relocating to the USA. In 2008, I embarked on my college education there. However, after a year of studies, I made a decision to follow my lifelong passion for cinematography. This choice led me to enroll in Poland's esteemed National Film School in Lodz in 2012, where I ultimately earned my Master's degree in Cinematography in 2017.
Throughout my career, I have built an extensive portfolio, contributing my skills to various films and commercials. Shortly after graduating, I assumed the role of Director of Photography for a 3-season TV series in Wrocław, Poland. In some of my projects, I've taken on the unique Polish coined term role of "Rezop," combining directorial and operator responsibilities.
My films have been screened on festivals worldwide, including festivals such as DokLeipzig, FID Marseille, IndieLisboa, and the Warsaw Film Festival. In 2023, I was nominated for the Jan Machulski award for best cinematography at the Solanin Film Festival in Poland for my work on the short documentary film "Uncle Vakho's Dream.
Currently, I am working on a Polish-funded feature documentary set in the high mountains of the Svaneti region in Georgia.
